Since 1952, Allentown's four community bands have joined together for an annual Festival of Bands. It's a great concert for band lovers, who get a chance to hear them all together as one ensemble.
Each concert has a theme, and when the 59th annual festival arrives Sunday afternoon at Trexler Middle School, it will be an especially serious one — "United We Stand: In Recognition of the 10th anniversary of 9/11."
The concert will honor emergency responders on Sept. 11, 2001, in New York and Washington, and specifically those who responded to the crash of United Flight 93 in Somerset County. It will also honor emergency responders everywhere.
